Back in 2018, I didn’t know I was going to make hats and exhibit them until someone suggested it, after which, one thing led to another.Similarly, some of these hats evolved in the same way, while others were on my ideas list and there are many more I ran out of time for!
HEADonistic has since become an annual hat-making event at Embassy Arts in Baradine during September/October, with workshops, competition and an exhibiton. No skills are required, only a desire to get creative, have a go and have fun! In 2020, we did it virtually using social media such as Instagram and Facebook to post and share our creations.
There is a tactile playfulness involved in the process of hat making. It is possibly the most sculptural work I have indulged in and I enjoy every moment.I hope you discover this playfulness too and hope you'll join us for the next instalment. Keep posted for updates and send me an email if you would like to know more.
